Drafting
Students can move from a planning sheet to a writing frame. Filling out all details in a
writing frame actually signifies the student is moving from Prewriting to
Drafting.
Ask yourself this:
“Did I leave enough room in the writing frame for students to add details?”
See above for 2 writing frames that provide the proper organization and leave room for student details.
Differentiation:
Students are at different stages in the writing process. Some students will not want to be constricted by your writing frames and will prefer to draft on their own paper. Others will only be able to use the writing frame and add a few words of their own.
* It's important to meet your students where they are at in their writing development.
*Give them time alone to struggle and put words on the page, or they will always depend on you for coming up with words.
*As you have modeled consistently through frames and writing examples, they must take the plunge!
