I am experimenting for the first time with blogging and linking up with another TPT teacher seller.
When we return from break, I will teach my Ants Expository Writing Unit. I made these cute name tags "Ant Detectives" and tied them with ribbon. My students and I are going to wear them all week around the building.
We are going to learn about ants from library science books this time instead of using Reading Street, ReadWorks, or teacher-written passages. This is in addition to great resources I have found (including videos about different kinds of ants on National Geographic Kids).
Also, check your local DollarTree because now I am seeing NatGeo Kids readers in full color there. These are shorter than the ones I usually buy at Books-A-Million, which are more than 3 bucks. These would be useful for sixth graders as well as seventh and eighth graders reading below grade level.
I love science! Happy new year, everyone!
